The time has finally arrived for the 21st Annual National Gingerbread House Competition! For the past 20 years, the historic Grove Park Inn has been home to the National Gingerbread House Competition, bringing thousands of visitors to view the impressive collection of gingerbread houses that incorporate every size and theme imaginable. After the judging and the awards ceremony are over, the display will be set up throughout the hotel and will be open for viewing from November 20th through January 2nd.
As one of the state’s most popular holiday events, the National Gingerbread House Competition attracts hundreds of competitors to compete as they create confectionary masterpieces made entirely of edible materials that are judged based on overall appearance, originality/creativity, difficulty, precision and consistency of theme.
As a means to preserve the overall guest experience, The Omni Grove Park Inn will open its doors to the public to view the Gingerbread display and holiday splendor from Sunday through Thursday, excluding holidays. A $10 parking charge will be in effect for all drive-on guests (one charge per vehicle, based on availability). The charge will cover the increased number of employees necessary to man the additional traffic flow and to provide greater guest service as well as directional signage for the holidays. Half of each parking charge collected this holiday season will be returned to the community in support of one of six local not-for-profits.
The National Gingerbread House Competition features everything from amateurs to pastry chefs and famous food star judges to celebrate this holiday tradition. The Grove Park Inn also offers several holiday packages and activities to celebrate the season.
Non-resort guests may view the displays on Sundays through Thursdays only excluding holidays.
